Is BOTOX painful?
With topical anesthetic, it can be virtually painless. Even without a numbing agent, pain is minimal, and you may only feel a little pinch. Injections are very quick and with a trained medical professional, you may not even notice when they happen.
What happens during the visit?
No prior preparation is needed for Botox injections. Your physician will go over your medical history, examine your face, determine how much Botox you will need and explain the procedure and answer any questions you may have. Your face is cleansed, and Botox is injected with a very fine needle into specified areas. The procedure typically lasts 10-20 minutes. In most cases, you can leave right after the procedure. We may use a topical anesthetic or cold pack to reduce any discomfort.
What precautions do I need to follow after the procedure?
You are advised not to rub or massage your face for 24 hours, to avoid the toxin spreading to other unintended areas.
How much does Botox cost?
The price varies based on the product you use and ongoing promotions on Botox. Our introductory price for Botox is $10/unit.
How many units of Botox do I need?
The number of Botox units for specified areas can vary based on your facial muscles, gender, areas needed to treat, and prior treatments.
How Long does the Botox effect last?
It typically takes 3-14 days for a full effect up to a maximum of 30 days from Botox injections. The Botox effect lasts typically 3 months, but results can vary.
Are there any adverse effects of Botox?
Botox complications have most often been associated with non-cosmetic treatments and unqualified practitioners. Possible side effects include headache, nausea, flu-like symptoms, redness or pain at the injection site, and droopy eyelids. The risk of any complication is extremely low with a trained provider such as Dr. Bassi.
