BMI
Body mass index(BMI) is a ratio of height to weight and is used to assess if your weight is healthy or unhealthy. It can be your weight in kilograms divided by the square of height in meters or weight in pounds divided by square of height in inches multiplied by a conversion factor of 703. It is applicable to adults aged 20 or above.
Below 18.5 | Underweight |
---|---|
18.5 – 24.9 | Healthy Weight |
25.0 – 29.9 | Overweight |
30.0 and Above | Obesity |
A BMI higher of 30 or more indicates Obesity however BMI cannot differentiate if your excessive weight is due to excessive fat or excessive muscles. This is more true for athletes and body builders. This can be assessed with Body composition Analyzer, and is available at Bassi clinic.
